Extracurricular Activities (contingent upon availability)
Dance 舞蹈
The dance program combines music, movement, and dance to the academic readiness skills they are learning everyday. It focuses on motor development and fitness while placing special emphasis on building self-confidence and self-esteem. Children will be introduced to styles such as ballet, Chinese folk dance, and/or latin dance.
Yoga 瑜伽
Similarly to the dance program, kids yoga promotes the development of a strong and flexible body, increases balance, mind-body awareness and coordination, improves posture and alignment, reduces stress and anxiety, increases concentration, focus, and attention span.
Soccer 足球
Partnering with Super Soccer Stars, specialized coaches will teach soccer fundamentals to children in a fun, non-competitive, educational environment. Soccer will be used to build self-confidence, hone coordination, and develop teamwork.
Amazing Athletes 優秀運動員
From the Soccer Stars team, the Amazing Athletes program empowers kids by teaching skills from 10 different sports to discover their inner strength & athletic abilities. Their multi-sports program uses sport, fitness, and fun to develop key motor skills, promote teamwork, and inspire active futures.
Special Events
Field Trips 實地考察
Educational field trips around New York City are scheduled throughout the school year to extend the children's learning beyond the classroom. Learning objectives for these field trips are all connected to the thematic units of study. Popular destinations include the New York Transit Museum, NYC Fire Museum, Prospect Park Zoo, New York Aquarium, Hall of Science, New York Public Library, Brooklyn Children's Museum, Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and many more. Sometimes we might take neighborhood walks.
Christmas Caroling 聖誕表演
To celebrate the holiday season, our UPK classes are invited to join at Confucius Plaza's annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony. Our children sing Christmas carols and holiday songs for all in attendance to spread some holiday joy. And in return for the children's good deed, Santa Claus usually have a few surprises for them.
Chinese New Year Celebration 新年表演
Chinese New Year (sometimes referred as Lunar New Year or Spring Festival) is a special time of year for many Asian families. In celebration of this important holiday, all the children in our school put on a grand show for their families to honor the Chinese culture and tradition.
